RUN

Festival de Cannes

Run is set in a conservative beach-side town in New Zealand during the late seventies. The 15 minute film is about two Samoan siblings Georgie and Tom, who live in an environment which is built on the fears of their solo father. Dad, (Jack), is fearful of the bleak future he can see awaiting his polynesian children growing up in a white world and is still coming to terms with the death of his wife. Jack enforces a military like regime into the lives of his children to prepare them for the difficult times ahead. By overcoming  their differences and sticking together Tom and Georgie learn they can cheat their way out of their father’s rules. The bond forged in the challenges they face eventually gives them the courage to stand up to the biggest obstacleto a future; their father.
